Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer virtual or in-person sessions?

I provide all of my services online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.

I will gladly refer you to another clinician or practice if you are looking for in-person sessions.

Do I need a camera to do online therapy?

Using a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera works best for online therapy.

A good, stable Internet connection is required.

Do I need a private space for online therapy?

Ideally, yes, you’ll have private space for therapy.

To get the most out of therapy, a place with fewer distractions is best. This might be a quiet room in your home, in your car, or a quiet place outside.

How do I set up an appointment?

The easiest way to set up an appointment is to request one through the link on my Contact page.

You can also call or text (843) 941-9260.

I will try to get back to you within 24 hours (Monday through Friday).

Can you work with anyone in the US?

Due to varying state laws and regulations, there is currently no reciprocity between all 50 states. I am licensed to work with clients physically located in NC and SC at the time of service.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am affiliated with certain insurance companies such as Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield (NC Only), and will soon be working with Optum & United.

I provide a complimentary insurance verification service before appointments. Verification may take up to 48 hours to process.

How long are the sessions?
Sessions are 45 minutes.
How often can we meet?
For most clients, one to two times a week is effective.
What happens if I have to cancel?

Appointments canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time are subject to the full session fee.

Do you work with children or couples?
I only work with adult individuals.
What is the first session like?
The first session is used to get to know you better. I do a full assessment of your overall health and current concerns.

We’ll also define some goals to work toward and develop a general attack plan.

What type of modalities do you use?
I use a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness.
Do you give homework?
I don’t necessarily give homework but provide several resources between sessions.
Will you think I am crazy?
I welcome all our clients with empathy and compassion.
Can my friends or family join my therapy sessions?
Socializing can be great for mental health, but our sessions are confidential, so please ensure that friends and family cannot hear our sessions.
Do you provide snacks? I get hungry in therapy.
Bring anything that makes you comfortable during our time.
Should I wear waterproof mascara?
Sometimes in therapy, there are tears, sometimes lots of tears. I’d go with the waterproof if you prefer to avoid those mascara tears.
Dogs or cats?

Both. I have a rescue cat named Pepé Le Pew. He is as smelly as he sounds!

I also have a dog, a Samoyed named Diesel. He’s intelligent and sweet. He would make a great emotional support dog.
